Sleepie Laddie by Aly Windwick

Aly Windwick was a very well-known local composer and songwriter and this is one of his best-known songs. It has a beautiful melody that is strong enough to play even without the words.

This calming lullaby is written in two parts, although the whole tune is played straight through from start to finish. The second part of the tune features one bar with a faster run of shorter notes which complements the lyrical style of the rest of the melody perfectly. The last few bars of the second part are a direct repeat of the very beginning of the tune with a variation in the final few notes which leads seamlessly back to the start of the tune.
