Orkney Music and Culture

 The Instrument Bank

The Instrument Bank has, to date, loaned almost two hundred instruments to players of all ages so that they could ‘have a go’ before deciding whether to continue or not. Over half have gone on to buy their own instruments and continue playing. The majority of instruments in The Bank have been kindly donated by people living in Orkney. All we ask is that you return the instrument to us at the agreed time and in the condition in which we lent it to you.  If you want to borrow an instrument please send an email to instrumentbank@orkneymusicandculture.org or complete and submit the form at the foot of this page.

"I have really enjoyed using the piano that I borrowed. The scheme is a great idea to help young and new piano players. It gave me a great opportunity to develop and grow my piano skill. It was great fun and I would recommend it to any more aspiring musicians."

Below is a list of the instruments we currently have available and a selection of photos taken at a come and try event.. We hope to revive the come and try sessions soon.
